President

I want to help the coalition flourish into great leaders and advocates who serve and address the needs of the Black LGBTQ community. I aim to continue using our influence to uplift voices of our community, especially in spaces where organizations make decisions that impact us without us.

Email me if there is an event, resource, need in the community that we are not addressing, or if you have any thoughts or suggestions on how we can better serve our mission.

Secretary

There is so much hate and misunderstanding out in the world, especially towards Black LGBTQ+ people. I wanted to be part of something that helps bring light, love and a safe space for people like me. This group's mission and vision really aligned to my own goals in being a positive impact to our Black LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to serving our people and building a stronger Black LGBTQ+ community in San Diego.

General Council - Communications

My interest in joining the coalition stemmed from the need for representation. Growing up I never really saw myself being shown in lgbtq + spaces/content. I am a firm believer we all have unique journeys that are more relatable than not. I feel this group brings forth powerful stories and personalities that can strongly impact communities/mindsets. I look forward to being of service and adding value to this magical team.

I want to help continue the mission of the coalition by uniting diverse Black LGBTQ+ community members by providing them with space for a voice that is heard, a face that is seen & respected (“a seat at the table”- Langston Hughes) for opportunities to be heard and make a difference, and a sustainable resourceful platform that centers around community, healing, growth, safety, and advocacy. #UnapologeticallyBlack Email me, I would love to connect if you have creative fundraising opportunities and ideas on how the coalition can better support the black queer community.

Communications Chair

As the Communications Officer I will strive to raise awareness of the LGBTQ community by developing and maintaining communications of our strong relationships, projects and presence in this community. I want to bring my proactive spirit to this team to seek out new ideas for a basis of our media content and getting the word out about what your San Diego Black LGBTQ Coalition is doing for our community. Let’s be engaged together through our coalitions social media presence, blogs, and newsletters. See you out there.
